We are proud to announce another ShiftCon 2014 Media Partner, the Organic Consumers Association (OCA).
The Organic Consumers Association (OCA) is an online and grassroots non-profit 501(c)3 public interest organization campaigning for health, justice, and sustainability. The OCA deals with crucial issues of food safety, industrial agriculture, genetic engineering, children’s health, corporate accountability, Fair Trade, environmental sustainability and other key topics. We are the only organization in the US focused exclusively on promoting the views and interests of the nation’s estimated 50 million organic and socially responsible consumers.
The Organic Consumer Association has a mission for the American agriculture to be converted to at least 30% organic by the year 2015. Alongside that, they want the most dangerous industrial agriculture and factory farming practices phased-out, replaced with practices that focus on conservation and renewable energy.
OCA and ShiftCon believe in encouraging consumers, companies, and the USDA to preserve strict organic standards. Also, we want, demand, global standards on genetically engineered foods and crops. We think that through public education, networks, and campaigns that policies can be influenced and we can protect our families from hazardous products. Inspiring everyone to “Buy Local, Organic, and Fair Made” is a mission of both OCA and ShiftCon.
