Gretchen Salter has spent over 15 years as an organizer, activist and advocate for progressive change in America. A veteran of electoral politics, Gretchen joined the environmental health movement as an advocate for safer chemical policies in California. She has led campaigns to eliminate phthalates and BPA from children’s products and created programs in California to improve the safety of cosmetics as well as a broad policy to promote safer alternatives in all products. Gretchen served as the California representative for Safer States starting in 2006 and in 2015, joined the organization as a strategic advisor, providing support to advocates, legislators and communities.
