Cara Pike is the Founder and Executive Director of Climate Access, a nonprofit focused on building political and public support for climate solutions through its learning network for nonprofit and government leaders, pilot projects that test new engagement approaches, and communication research and strategy consulting services. Her work includes creation of outreach models that are reaching and involving thousands of people in shaping and implementing climate action via the Climate Community Leaders Program and the Look Ahead virtual reality engagement model. Cara’s publications and toolkits are widely used by practitioners including Fostering and Communicating Sustainable Lifestyles; Smart Shift: Communicating About Sustainable Consumption, Framing and Engagement Research and Recommendations for Local Governments; Preparation Frame: A Guide for Understanding and Engaging Around Climate Impacts; Ecological Roadmap, A Values-Based Approach to Building support for Environmental Protection; and Climate Communications Behavior Change – A Guide for Practitioners. Ms. Pike regularly advises government agencies and nonprofit organizations. Clients have included the City of Boston, Urban Sustainability Director Network, Ocean Science Trust, Union of Concerned Scientists, International Council for Clean Transportation, Province of Alberta, and others.
