Jillian Pritchard Cooke is known throughout the U.S. as a leader in the natural, sustainable and healthy interior design space. Most recently she created Wellness Within Your Walls (WWYW), an award-winning globally-recognized health and wellness building standard with a mission to reduce harmful interior environmental toxins. Jillian has over 35 years of experience in the building and design industries, specifying eco-friendly and healthy products for over 100,000 homes and commercial properties. The WWYW standard is now the leading advocacy organization for reducing toxins in interior environments with industry leaders comparing WWYW to LEED in its early days. The WWYW standard differs, however, in that its primary concern is health and well being, not energy efficiency.
An internationally-recognized and award-winning project, EcoManor, the first Gold LEED-certified residence in the United States, is where Jillian honed her expertise for healthy design specification. A subsequent cancer diagnosis, thought to have been caused by environmental factors related to her design career, became the catalyst for a passionate commitment to creating healthier living environments. The WWYW standard outlines proper construction techniques and healthier design and building practices, as well as maintenance and behavioral strategies to ensure sustained wellness. WWYW also created the Healthy Living System, a 10-step holistic approach compatible with all of today’s best building practices. In 2019, WWYW announced 10 pilot projects including the Nashville Symphony Show House, the Crestline California ABC Green Home, and a new Atlanta development partnering with The Prince’s Foundation.
A sought-after speaker, Jillian has participated in numerous design and build trade shows and conferences, including the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the US Green Building Council (USGBC) and the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). She has authored numerous articles that specifically deal with reducing harmful toxins in the interior environment; she has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Forbes, Veranda, Town & Country, Professional Builder Magazine, Builder Magazine, Green Home Builder Magazine and a number of other publications. Under her stewardship, WWYW was recently named the health and wellness standard for Hearst Design Group’s House Beautiful Whole Home Concept House 2019 in Nashville, TN. Jillian has also been featured on HGTV, CNN, Martha Stewart Radio and CBS News. For more information, visit: www.wellnesswithinyourwalls.
