Workshops 16-18 – Advocacy, Access and Agriculture Sponsored by The Organic Center | Health Hacks: Stop Exhausting Your Willpower, Start Feeling Better | Environmental Justice and Building Sustainable neighborhoods
Advocacy, Access and Agriculture Sponsored by The Organic Center
This spring, among 300 farmers, business leaders, policy makers and media, Organic Trade Association hosted seven widely followed social media influencers at its Washington, D.C. advocacy week. The individuals were chosen to cover visits with lawmakers and other activities during #OrganicWeekDC and given a behind-the-scenes look at advocacy in action. During this session, brands and bloggers will share learnings from the experience, and discuss how to grow your network through event engagement. The panelists will also explore techniques for discussing complex agriculture and policy issues (such as improving school nutrition) with your audience.

What to eat today? When? How can you fight this craving? When will you exercise today? Our incessant health monologue distracts us, makes us feel guilty, and makes healthy living (with our sanity intact) practically impossible. In the Emergency Department, there’s no time for these distractions. In fact, ER doctors use “The ABC’s” to focus in a trauma or medical code. It’s time to do that for your own health. Throw out old admonitions to “use your willpower” or “just eat better, move more.” Through the best of medicine, behavioral economics, and psychology, see health in an entirely new and streamlined way. Simplify your health choices, reach your goals, and liberate time and energy to focus on what you really want. It’s all within your reach, peace of mind included.
