Please join us in welcoming back Stonyfield as a sponsor for ShiftCon 2015!
Co-founded in 1983, Samuel Kaymen and Gary Hirshberg were two men on a mission to help family farms survive. They were running a struggling nonprofit organic farming school on a small New Hampshire farm, to educate farmers how to keep food and food production healthy, and help protect the environment.
In order to fund the school, they put the farm’s seven cows to work, as well as all of the help they could find. Soon they began selling really good yogurt made without the use of toxic persistent pesticides or chemical fertilizers. The yogurt was a huge hit, and Samuel and Gary realized that a successful organic food company could make a much bigger impact on family farms, people and the planet than their school ever could.
The folks at Stonyfield live by the phrase “Obsessively Organic.” They’re devoted to using only Organic fruit in their yogurt – every year they buy 6 million pounds of it. And it’s not just about consumers. Conventional farm communities have higher rates of cancers than those who live on Organic farm. They care just as much about the people who grow the fruits as they do about the people who eat them.
The cows that produce the milk for their yogurts and smoothies are free of toxic persistent pesticides, GMOs, artificial hormones, and antibiotics. Even as the company expanded from seven cows to a cooperative of over 1,500 dairy farmers across the US, they have always kept their standards the same.
Those standards are right in line with what we believe in at ShiftCon. Their passion for making healthy and organic food available to everyone, is only one of the reasons we are excited to have them back for 2015.
You can connect with Stonyfield by following them on Facebook and Twitter, or visiting Stonyfield.com. You will be able to chat with representatives of the company as well as try some of their delicious products in their hospitality suite, and hear Co-founder Gary Hirshberg speak as a keynote on Friday morning at ShiftCon 2015.
